Career guidance event for students of the Kaniv Academic Lyceum “Harmony”: Educational Day at KNEU05 May 2026р.

On May 5, 2026, an educational day for students of the Kaniv Academic Lyceum “Harmony” took place at the Kyiv National Economic University named after Vadym Hetman. The event became another stage in the implementation of the memorandum of cooperation between educational institutions and was aimed at career guidance for students and familiarization with modern educational opportunities in the field of information technologies (IT).

The organization and implementation of the event were ensured by the Educational and Research Institute of Information Technologies in Economics with the participation of representatives of the Department of Computer Science and the Department of Artificial Intelligence, Modeling and Statistics.

The event was attended by students of grades 7–12 and teachers of the gymnasium. The delegation was accompanied by Victor Misiong – an informatics teacher who has prepared numerous winners of all-Ukrainian and international competitions.

Leading academic and teaching staff of the departments took part in the event. In particular, from the Department of Computer Science, the following participated: Head of the Department, Associate Professor, PhD in Economics Bohdan Oleksandrovych Tishkov; Deputy Head of the Department for Scientific Work, Associate Professor, PhD in Economics Yurii Mykolaiovych Lozovyk; Deputy Head of the Department for Educational and Methodological Work Yaroslav Yuriiovych Vozniuk; Associate Professor of the Department Oksana Volodymyrivna Choporova. From the Department of Artificial Intelligence, Modeling and Statistics, Senior Lecturer Viktoriia Leonidivna Kravchenko joined the event.

The event became an effective platform for communication between school students and university lecturers, contributed to the popularization of IT education and the formation of a conscious choice of future profession.

The program of the event was aimed at familiarizing students with modern educational opportunities, the specifics of studying at the university, and prospects for professional development in the field of IT and analytics.

As part of the visit, students toured the main building of the university, where they learned about the history of KNEU named after Vadym Hetman, its educational environment, student life, and infrastructure. In particular, they were introduced to the activities of the Center for Culture and Arts, the sports complex, and the university library, which play an important role in forming a well-rounded student experience.

Special attention was paid to the material and technical base of the Educational and Research Institute of Information Technologies in Economics. Students visited modern educational and research laboratories “Information Control Systems and Technologies” and “Artificial Intelligence Systems,” where they became familiar with the practical aspects of student training.

In her welcoming speech, Deputy Director of the Institute Osypova Olha Ihorivna, Candidate of Economic Sciences, emphasized the importance of early career guidance and a conscious choice of future profession.

Within the framework of the Career Guidance Day, two overview lectures were conducted.

The first lecture on the topic “Theory and Practice of Microcontroller Systems Application” was presented by Doctor of Philosophy Yaroslav Yuriiovych Vozniuk.

Students were introduced to modern platforms such as Arduino (Uno, Nano, Mega), ESP controllers for IoT solutions, and Raspberry Pi microcomputers. Of particular interest was the demonstration of student projects: traffic control systems, automated parking solutions with license plate recognition, “smart home,” “smart manufacturing (conveyor),” robotic complexes, IoT monitoring systems, weather stations, smart mirrors, and access control systems.

The practical part allowed students to directly interact with the equipment: they tried controlling devices, tested the operation of sensors and peripheral components, and also became familiar with the possibilities of 3D technologies, including the use of VR glasses and control of unmanned aerial vehicles.

The second lecture, delivered by Senior Lecturer Kravchenko Viktoriia Leonidivna, was devoted to the theory and practice of applying mathematical models. Students received basic knowledge of game theory, learned about its use in various fields, and became familiar with modern approaches to modeling complex processes. Special attention was paid to the development of analytical thinking and the ability to apply theoretical knowledge in practice.

During the event, students had the opportunity to communicate with lecturers, ask questions about educational programs, and learn more about studying in IT specialties.

The implementation of such career guidance events is important both for students and for the university. For school students, it is an opportunity to better understand their professional interests, become familiar with modern technologies, and make a more informed choice of future specialty. For the university, it is a strengthening of cooperation with secondary education institutions, attracting motivated applicants, and popularizing quality IT education.

The implementation of such initiatives contributes to the formation of a continuous educational environment, the development of the intellectual potential of youth, and the strengthening of the integration of education and practice in Ukraine.
