Student Projects, 3D Printing and Virtual Reality: A Meeting with Students of the “Territory 12” Gymnasium12 October 2026р.

On October 12, 2026, a career guidance event organized by the Department of Computer Science of Kyiv National Economic University named after Vadym Hetman was held at the “Territory 12” Gymnasium in the city of Berdychiv. The meeting was dedicated to learning about student developments, robotics, 3D technologies, and virtual reality. The pupils had the opportunity to see how knowledge of computer science, mathematics, and physics helps create devices and solve practical tasks.

The event was conducted by Yaroslav Vozniuk, Senior Lecturer and Deputy Head of the Department of Computer Science. He spoke about studying at KNEU, the work of educational and research laboratories, and opportunities for students to participate in team projects. Particular attention was paid to how students choose tasks for development, create their first prototypes, test their operation, and present their results at competitions and engineering contests

Using the examples of a smart mirror, automated plant care, the “Rocky” robotic platform, and the Smart Parking System, the schoolchildren learned about the combination of programming, electronics, and construction. The participants learned about the successes of KNEU student teams at the IDEAFEST 2026 business ideas competition and the “MELM and MK” engineering competitions. These developments showed how academic work can become the basis for further research or the development of one's own product.

The practical part of the meeting gave the pupils an opportunity to become more closely acquainted with the equipment. The schoolchildren observed the operation of a 3D printer, examined robotic models, and tried virtual reality headsets. The demonstrations were accompanied by explanations and discussions of the operating principles of the devices and the possibilities for their application.

During the introduction to 3D technologies, the process from a digital model to a physical product was discussed. The pupils learned how modeling and printing help manufacture enclosures for electronics, mounts, and parts for models and prototypes. The introduction to virtual reality complemented the discussion of ways in which humans interact with the digital environment and the use of interactive technologies in education.

An important part of the event was the discussion about future career choices. Yaroslav Vozniuk spoke about areas of work in computer science, including software development for devices, the Internet of Things, 3D modeling, and testing. Through examples of team projects, the pupils saw that creating a single device requires different skills: writing code, working with electronics, designing a structure, and testing the result. Trying to complete such tasks helps students better understand their own interests and choose a direction for further education.

We sincerely thank the director of the “Territory 12” Gymnasium, Nataliia Heorhiivna Pudriia, and Nadiia Valeriivna Bulanova for organizing the meeting, their hospitality, and their support for career guidance activities. We thank the teaching staff for their cooperation, and the schoolchildren for their participation, questions, and interest in the presented developments.

Such events help schoolchildren learn more about studying at a university, become acquainted with various areas of IT, and take a conscious step toward choosing their future profession.
