Career Guidance Event "Computer Science – the Profession that Creates the Future!"10 June 2026р.

On June 9, 2026, within the framework of cooperation between the Department of Computer Science of Kyiv National Economic University named after Vadym Hetman and the administration of the Separate Structural Subdivision "Professional College of Information Systems and Technologies of Kyiv National Economic University named after Vadym Hetman", the career guidance event "Computer Science – the Profession that Creates the Future!" was held.

The purpose of the event was to familiarize students with modern opportunities for obtaining education in the specialty "Computer Science", the prospects for professional development in the IT sphere, and the main areas of activity of the Department of Computer Science.

The event was attended by third- and fourth-year students of the Separate Structural Subdivision "Professional College of Information Systems and Technologies of KNEU named after V. Hetman", who are studying for the educational degree of Junior Bachelor in the specialty "Software Engineering." The students had the opportunity to become acquainted with the educational programs in technical specialties implemented at Kyiv National Economic University named after Vadym Hetman.

Representing the Department of Computer Science at the event were Yurii Mykolaiovych Lozovyk, Deputy Head of the Department for Research, and Oksana Mykolaivna Pomazun, Guarantor of the Educational and Professional Program "Computer Science."

Yurii Mykolaiovych Lozovyk delivered the career guidance lecture. During the meeting, the participants were introduced to the Educational and Professional Program "Computer Science," which provides training for highly qualified specialists in the field of information technologies. It was noted that the duration of study under the educational and professional program is 3 years and 10 months, and education may be obtained in full-time (daytime) and part-time forms of study.

Particular attention was paid to the opportunities for the professional realization of graduates. The participants learned about the training of specialists in the fields of software engineering, data analytics, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, information systems, and digital technologies. The Department of Computer Science trains not only software developers but also future architects of the digital world who are capable of creating innovative technological solutions.

Within the framework of the event, five key scientific and educational areas of the Department of Computer Science were presented: the Internet of Things, robotics, and Industry 4.0/5.0; information systems and digital technologies; artificial intelligence and data analytics; information security; and systems analysis and modeling of complex systems.

The event was held under the slogan: "In Counter-Strike you are a player; in Computer Science you are a creator. CS → CS: it's time to move to the next level."

The students became acquainted with modern research in the fields of machine learning, intelligent data analysis, and the development of decision support systems. The possibilities of developing information systems for the automation of managerial, economic, and technical processes were also demonstrated, and issues of information protection under the conditions of the digital transformation of society were considered.

Special attention was paid to modern Internet of Things technologies, robotics, and the concepts of Industry 4.0 and 5.0, which determine the development of digital manufacturing and intelligent cyber-physical systems. The participants also learned about the possibilities of using methods of systems analysis and mathematical modeling to study complex economic, technical, and social processes.

During the meeting, emphasis was placed on the importance of students' practical training, which includes internships in IT companies, participation in real projects, educational days of leading IT companies, workshops, hackathons, startups, and meetings with representatives of the IT industry. Students also have the opportunity to master modern programming languages, cloud technologies, and artificial intelligence tools while developing teamwork and IT project management skills.

The participants had the opportunity to learn about the modern material and technical facilities of the Department, its educational and research laboratories—"Information Control Systems and Technologies" and "Artificial Intelligence Systems"—as well as opportunities for scientific activity and professional development. It was emphasized that education takes place in a modern educational environment equipped with the latest hardware and software, making it possible to work with technologies that are already shaping the future today.

The holding of such career guidance events contributes to raising young people's awareness of opportunities for obtaining an IT education, helps prospective applicants make an informed choice of a technical specialty and career path, and also strengthens cooperation between the University and institutions of professional pre-higher education.

The Educational and Professional Program "Computer Science" is the choice of those who aspire not to be observers of the future, but its creators.
