Assistant Kindzerskyi Oleksandr Vitaliiovych gave a report on the state of the IT market in Ukraine and the world for 2024–2025. The report reflects significant changes in the demand for specialists, technological priorities, and salary levels. The speaker noted that one of the most significant trends was the growing demand for IT specialists in the field of defense technologies. In the third quarter of 2025, the “Military sector” showed record growth — the number of vacancies increased by 291 positions. This indicates a rising need for IT professionals who can work on the development and improvement of technologies for the defense industry, which is particularly relevant given the current situation in Ukraine.
According to the speaker, demand is also growing in other high-tech fields — such as Embedded systems, Hardware, and AI. Vacancies are opening for both developers and quality assurance (QA) specialists, confirming the stable development of these areas.
In his speech, Kindzerskyi Oleksandr Vitaliiovych also drew attention to another important trend — the gradual shift from JavaScript to TypeScript as the main programming language for developers. He explained that this transition is driven by increased requirements for typing and project scalability, making TypeScript the optimal choice for large and complex applications.
At the same time, such technologies as Java, Python, and C# maintain stable demand, but TypeScript is gradually becoming the new standard for many companies.
The speaker also focused on salary dynamics. According to him, in Ukraine over the past six months, salary growth has been observed only among senior-level specialists — by an average of +200 dollars. For other levels of specialists, the changes remain insignificant. In contrast, for Ukrainian developers working abroad, salary increases have been recorded across all levels. In particular, junior specialists abroad receive on average +205 dollars more than before. This indicates that Ukrainian IT professionals involved in international projects have significantly broader opportunities for professional and financial growth. The speaker also noted that Ukraine’s IT market is actively responding to the changing needs of the industry, particularly to the growing demand for middle and senior-level specialists. At the same time, hiring junior specialists with less than a year of experience or without it remains an important component of the labor market, although young professionals often face difficulties in finding employment.
The demand for middle and senior developers continues to grow steadily, as companies focus on attracting experienced specialists capable of effectively solving complex tasks and taking responsibility for key projects. This allows maintaining a high level of development quality and accelerating company growth. Meanwhile, beginners have the opportunity to start their careers in companies that invest in training young professionals, although usually for a lower level of pay.
Kindzerskyi Oleksandr Vitaliiovych provided examples of the Top 5 IT companies of 2024 that actively hired junior specialists, confirming that even at the early stages of a career, there are opportunities for growth. Investment in new talent remains an important priority for leading IT companies, providing young professionals with a good start.
Significant attention in the report was also devoted to the issue of gender equality in the IT industry. The speaker noted a positive trend toward an increase in the share of women developers, indicating gradual progress in ensuring equal opportunities for all specialists regardless of gender, in line with current global trends.
In conclusion, Kindzerskyi Oleksandr Vitaliiovych emphasized the importance of considering modern IT market trends when improving the department’s educational programs. As a result of the discussion, the lecturers of the department determined directions for updating the teaching of academic disciplines in master’s and bachelor’s degree programs, taking into account the current labor market needs and new technological challenges. |
