Economics Information Systems Department
The Economics Information Systems Department trains specialists in specialities 8.050102 Economic Cybernetics, 6.080400 Intellectual Decision Making Systems at the bachelor level and specialities 8.050102 Economic Cybernetics and 8.080400 Intellectual Decision Making Systems at the master level.
The training of specialists in the field of the development and the application of information systems and technologies in various sectors of the economy was initiated in the KNEU in early 1960s. Initially, the speciality was referred to as the Organisation of the Mechanised Processing of the Economic Information and later renamed as Economic Informatics and Automatic Control Systems, Information Systems in Economy, Information Systems in Management. The speciality was renamed to Economic Cybernetics on the basis of Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No. 507 of 24 May 1997 "On the List of Areas and Specialities for the Training of Specialists in Higher Education Establishments at Appropriate Qualification Levels".
Starting from academic year 2004/2005, the Department has been training bachelors in speciality 6.080400 Intellectual Decision Making Systems (in the area of Computer Sciences). It is the graduation department for this speciality. The Department is focused on training specialists for the development, the implementation and the maintenance of intellectual information processing systems and decision support systems in the economy, management and business.
Starting from academic year 2008/2009, the Department has been training masters in speciality 8.080400 Intellectual Decision Making Systems (in the area of Computer Sciences). It is the graduation department for this speciality.
The Department offers the master degree in Modelling and Information Technologies in the Economy to its bachelor graduates under two selective packages:
The master packages are aimed at training highly qualified specialists in economic cybernetics, who will deal with of the automation of the economic information processing in various sectors on the basis of the application of modern information technologies and the latest achievements of the economic science. It is a specific feature of the training of masters that theoretical foundations of disciplines are combined with the in-depth practical training in the relevant area. The students have to apply their knowledge for solving practical problems of the object of their internship, and then to develop and defend the master's thesis on this basis.
